House of Wahala | An Inventive Art Auction in Austin and Houston, TX April 2017

I am pleased to announce that two of my paintings are traveling to Texas this April as part of an inventive art auction. House of Wahala offers a new approach to the traditional art auction, conceived by esteemed artist and Guggenheim Foundation Fellow, Wura-Natasha Ogunji. Ogunji will be performing as an energetic auctioneer, and encouraging audience participation in a lively dialogue. She says, "I want to use the format of the auction to ask and answer questions about art and life, to infuse the room with the excitement and challenge that being an artist in the world brings with it".

I look forward to exhibiting alongside incredible artists I highly respect. Please visit House of Wahala's website for a preview of available works and for additional information. If you cannot attend either auction date in Texas, remote bidding is encouraged. Email houseofwahala@gmail.com for registration information.

Additional words about the auction from House of Wahala:

"With a global art market valued at $63.8 billion and artists receiving the lowest amount of their earned income from the market…it’s time to reinvent the art auction! House of Wahala – meaning trouble in Nigerian pidgin – flips the script. Artist Wura-Natasha Ogunji steps in as auctioneer and audio guru Emeka Ogboh provides the evening’s soundtrack. All works come from the primary market – that is directly from artists – to you. Featuring opening bids from $200 and up House of Wahala infuses the art auction with the perfect amount of spectacle, humor and political debate. The art auction is finally fun again!

House of Wahala is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation Fund Project co-commissioned by Women & Their Work in partnership with DiverseWorks and NPN."
